The aim of this paper is to present contemporary debates on the notion of method and of scientific method in particular. It is proceeded as follow : (1) starting with the notion of method and types of methods, (2) then outlining the history of the notion of (scientific) method, (3) presenting the neopositivistic notion of scientific method and its critique, (4) discussing the problem of the nature and definition of scientific method, (5) and at last studying different types of scientific methods.
